Craig Hewitson Selected as CIHL Play Off MVP for 2004-2005

Craig Hewitson was selected unanimously by the coaching staff of the Kitimat Ice Demons as the CIHL Play off MVP for the 2004-2005 season. Hewitson’s play during the play offs was a big contributing factor to the success of the team. Hewitson was impressive during Kitimat’s four post season games. His play during the play offs followed on the heals of a regular season where he was in the league’s top five points leaders for the entire year. Hewitson and the Demons look to carry their stellar play into the provincials next week.

Chris Vilness Accepts Kal Tire Cup Trophy on Behalf of Kitimat Ice Demons – 2004-2005 CIHL Champions

Kitimat Ice Demons Captain, Chris Vilness, accepts the Kal Tire Cup from Paul Monaghan, Kal Tire owner-operator after the Ice Demons took the final play off series two straight against the Houston Luckies. Chris, seen here sporting a cut over is left eye that put him out of the final play off game for a brief stint, showed true grit and determination and returned in third period to lead his team to victory.

 

Kitimat Receives Lightening Cup Award for being tops in the CIHL for the Regular Season

Chris Vilness, Kitimat Ice Demons Captain, accepts the Lightening Cup, from Paul Monaghan, Kal Tire owner-operator in Kitimat. Kitimat had a impressive total of 29 out of a possible 32 points to end the CIHL 2004-2005 regular season. The Lightening Cup was created by CIHL in 2004 - 2005 to honour the team that wins the regular season. The Cup was named after Jason Lightening, League President from 2002 – 2004.

 

Kitimat Ice Demons win CIHL Championship at home – 5-3

For the Kitimat Ice Demons, after an undefeated regular season, a two straight wins victory over Burns Lake I the first round of the CIHL playoffs, they had only one thing left to prove, that they could gives their fans a championship banner on home ice.

Although the Demons players started off looking a little jittery in the first period of the second game in the CIHL playoff final against Houston, the team settled down, found its legs in the second period and went ion to win by a similar score to their victory in Houston a week earlier -- 5-3

Ice Demons solve Don Kenzle to beat Luckies 5-3 in critical final opener 

The Kitimat Ice Demons went into the Claude Parish Memorial Arena in Houston on Saturday and did what they had to do to exorcise one of the team's own Demons - a road win in the best of three CIHL finals.  Demons started the ball rolling early with a goal in the first minute by Blaine Markwart and while Luckies battled hard, they didn't seem to have the edge to get enough rubber past big Jamie Moran, who had a powerful game in the Demons net, making glove saves that had the crowd gasping with disappointment.

The Kitimat Ice Demons and the Houston Luckies to battle for the CIHL Championship

The top two teams during the regular season make it to play off for the right to claim themselves CIHL champions. The Kitimat Ice Demons ended the season in first place after going undefeated. The Houston Luckies finished in second place after ending the season strong. The CIHL Championship series commences Feb. 19 when Kitimat visits Houston. The series moves to Kitimat the following week end (Feb 26/27). The CIHL Championship Series promises to be a hard hitting and fast passed event.
