Presidents Address

November 2004

Welcome to the Central Interior Hockey League (CIHL) web site.

I'm very proud to let you know that during its last annual general meeting the CIHL ratified its first constitution, complete with by-laws and regulations. With its own constitution the CIHL is now well positioned to operate in an efficient and coordinated fashion well into the future.

The CIHL has also initiated interim disciplinary guidelines that allow the league executive to address matters of discipline around the league. Member teams in the CIHL have placed a high priority on making the CIHL responsive to not only the league but to the communities in which we operate. To this end the disciplinary guidelines will provide the league executive with direction on how to address matters requiring action so that they do not impact on the league's reputation.

I'm also very proud to announce that the CIHL has its first corporate sponsor. Kal Tire has signed a three year deal to be the league's official sponsor. As part of this deal the CIHL will be advertising Kal Tire on all its team's jerseys and in its team's programs. The CIHL has also renamed its championship trophy the "Kal Tire Cup". The CIHL is very appreciative of Kal Tire's support.

On behalf of the CIHL I'd like to invite everyone out to see a CIHL game. I'm certain you'll find our brand of hockey exciting and entertaining. If you've enjoyed a CIHL game please tell a friend, if you didn't please tell us. The Member Teams and the League Executive value our fans feed-back and look to address their interests whenever we can.

With the lack of an NHL season the CIHL is benefiting from hockey fans needing a hockey fix. Attendance around the league is up. Those individuals who come out to see a CIHL game are offered a unique brand of hometown hockey. Our teams are made up of coaches and players who work and play in our teams' communities. These are local men playing for local crowds, the way Canadian hockey was intended to be.

Sincerely,

Bobby Love
CIHL President
